EA Releases Delightfully Bubbly The Sims 4 Discover University Trailer

  • The Sims 4 Discover University has a brand new gameplay trailer.
  • Players can steer their sim through a complete college experience, from housing to studying by way of finances and everything in between.
  • In true The Sims style, you can, of course, make everything go terribly wrong.

Hot on the tail of the announcement last month that it was once again tapping into its seemingly timeless life sim cash cow, EA released today an official gameplay trailer for the next The Sims 4 Discover University expansion pack.

The Sims 4 Discover University

As the name suggests, players will be able to put their sims through the trials and tribulations of college life. In characteristic jubilant and bubbly The Sims style, the brand new trailer gives us a look at what we can expect from the expansion as we follow a Sim narrating their collegiate antics.

We also get a look at the two institutions to feature in Discover University. We have the University of Britechester with a distinctly more ivy league vibe and the Foxbury Institute and its forward-thinking STEM-based degrees.

Developer Maxis appears to be concocting a realistic take on university and has brought in some gameplay elements that are all too reminiscent of the real thing.

A Complete College Experience

Players can choose different types of accommodation from dorm rooms to off-campus housing and decorate these to their heart’s delight as well as define their own sartorial style to impress their fellow students.

They can choose a degree (as you’d expect, there are some odd ones on offer, including villainy), decide to attend lectures, study for exams, jump into study sessions, and write papers. How you tackle these will determine how your Sim fares in the job market later on in their virtual life.

Alongside, players can now land all manner of scholarships and grants to fund their Sim’s degree. Alternatively, they can take out a loan. They can also partake in extra-curricular activities. These include sports, societies (even a secret one), clubs including an eSports team, romantic entanglements, partying, and the like.

Discover University taps, of course, into The Sims 4 unique brand of macabre puppetry. The player can make everything to go disastrously wrong for their Sim as the trailer amply illustrates. Or, alternatively, steer them towards a fulfilling and worthwhile experience.

The Sims 4 Discover University lands in just over a week on Nov. 15 via the Origin launcher. Those using Steam will have to wait a little bit longer though.
